April 1, 2017 – April 29, 2017 The Ciclismo Youth Foundation Spring Road Program is for youth cyclists in middle school and high school. The program is designed to give riders of all skill levels the fitness and skills needed to ride recreationally and compete in local races. We teach handling, cornering and braking skills along with how to ride in a group and ride safely in traffic. And, of course, we introduce our young riders to endurance riding as we tackle many of our favorite local rides. The Spring Road Program includes race support for a final fun race for participants only, to be held the final Saturday practice of the program. Parent and rider informational meeting the evening of March 28, location TBD. Practice Schedule: April 1, 2017 – April 29, 2017 Tuesday: Practice 4:30 – 6:00 Thursday: Practice 4:30 – 6:00 Saturday: Practice 10:00 – 1:00 Mandatory bike check, April 1st at Spring Canyon Park from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Supported Races: April 29 Ciclismo participants only time trial, circuit race and/or criterium. Goals: Teach skills for riders to enjoy both competitive and recreational road cycling. Utilize “Double-Goal Coaching” to develop confidence, and life skills as well as fitness and cycling skills. Introduce road racing to those new to road cycling. Build and enhance fitness and racing skills of riders of all abilities. Create an atmosphere where athletes work together as a team for every rider’s success. Cost: Cost is $250.00 per rider if registered by March 14 $270 per rider if registered by March 20 $310 if registered by March 28 This cost covers all coaching, practice support, and team T-shirt.
