Youth Cycling Programs
The Ciclismo Youth Foundation youth cycling programs are all community-based junior programs; they are all-inclusive for all levels and all Fun! Bike Kung Fu! Riders can to do one or do all plus participate in our community races for a 7 month training program.
Spring Road Program (April 1– April 29)
Our Spring Road Program is designed to provide riders from Middle School and High School with the skills and confidence to ride on the road in a group atmosphere. We teach handling, cornering and braking skills along with how to ride in a group and ride safely in traffic. And, of course, we introduce our young riders to endurance riding as we tackle many of our favorite local rides. Practices meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for 2 hours and Saturday mornings for a longer endurance ride. This program also provides a great early season fitness base for riders looking to “up their game” later in the season.
Summer Mountain Bike Skills Program (June 3-24 Saturdays only plus June 26 – July 1 every day)
We are changing up the format of the Summer Program this year! The Ciclismo Youth Foundation Summer Program is a community-based junior cycling program for youth to develop bike maintenance, riding and racing skills. Open to all skill levels, each team member will have the opportunity to grow as an athlete and as an individual in a positive atmosphere. All practices will be structured by age and ability.
This summer we will start out with once a week practices on all four Saturdays during June, then wrap up the month with a week-long daily ride series, ending with a celebration ride day on Saturday, July 1. This format will allow riders to also participate in one of the three awesome Curt Gowdy summer camps offered during June if they want a big riding month!
High School Mountain Bike League (July 29 – October 22)
Once again, The Ciclismo Youth Foundation will be providing ALL organizational structure for high school-age students in Fort Collins, including: coaching, practice schedules, team kits, and race day support. Registration and race fees with the Colorado High School Cycling League are not included. We will be running all Fort Collins schools under a single umbrella organization. All practices will be structured by age and ability instead of by schools.
Middle School Mountain Bike Program (August 27 – October 1)
The Middle School Program is a community-based junior cycling program for all skill levels of middle school students, modeled after the High School practice format. All practices will be structured by age and ability instead of by schools. Each team member will have the opportunity to grow as an athlete and as an individual in a positive atmosphere. Practices meet on Sunday mornings for super fun endurance rides on local and regional trail systems.
